Many new Windows applications requires latest version of Microsoft .NET framework which is version 3.5 at the time of of writing of this post.
If you go to Microsoft download center, then by default you will get live installer of approximately 2-3 MB’s while complete .NET framework requires 50-200 MB. Actually on the same page there are links to complete setup but they are placed in a way that anyone can hardly notice them. Seems like Microsoft wants you to download live installer but there are problems with live installer…
It may hang forever if you have slow internet connection like dial-up, GPRS, etc.
You can not use it at all if your computer is not connected to internet 🙁
Also if you are running pirated Windows better not to use any software/installer from Microsoft which connects to Internet.

Have you ever abused by some stranger on orkut via your scrapbook? Most girls will reply yes to this as at some point of time they faced abuse my some stranger! All you could do to save yourself from such stranger is to got to their profile and add them to your ignore list so that they wont we able to write a scrap in your scrapbook or send you a friend request.
But there is a problem with above blocking! Scrapbook is was public and so if some one put bad word in it it happens to be there until you log in and delete such offensive scarp. This was embarrassing particularly to the people who do not use orkut so frequently. So all you wished was a way so that you can hide your scrapbook from stranger! Well this is what orkut is giving you now…
Just go to privacy settings page..
# To prevent strangers scrapping you…
Just select "friends" from drop-down box next to "allow scraps to be written by" setting!
# To hide scrapbook, album, videos, testimonials, feeds from strangers…
Similarly under "allow content to be viewed by" settings you can restrict who can view your scrapbook, album, videos, testimonials & feeds. So you may not need anymore our scrapbook cleaner script to delete all your scraps!
# To restrict friends also!!!

Do not open an orkut account
Delete your orkut account (if you already have one)
Delete picture, testimonial, scraps, etc
or Delete friends so everyone on orkut will become stranger! 😉

Scene 1: Stranger should not write to your scrapbook

# How Orkut Could have avoided this confusion!
Way 1: Put altogether different setting for scrapbook
Scrapbook is different than album, videos and other stuff as other can write into your scrapbook but cant upload pictures to your album!
So something like "scrapbook setting" should be implemented separately with options
Anyone can read and write (default option)
Only friends can read and write
So privacy setting page could look like: (Click on image to enlarge it)
Way 2: Hide scraps not scrapbox form!
If orkut want to drop assumption that people will not imagine something like "write only" scrapbook, then best way to do this is hide content of scrapbook not scrapbox itself so stranger can not read scraps but can write!

If you used labels too often then you might have noticed slightly different labels box today with some squares next to them! Well its nothing but Gmails colored label feature! So how to use this feature?
It is by default enabled on new Gmail Version which is available only for IE7 and Firefox 2+.

# How to color a label?
Just click on square box next to each label and you will see a small palate of 24-colors as shown in above screenshot! Also there is a link "Remove color" on same palate which comes in handy if you want to remove color at all!

Yep. On same palate there is a link Edit Name, which on clicking prompts new name!

Here this small palate could have been better if there is "Delete Label" link on it!
Anyway hold on there is more….
# Removing labels from a mail/conversation…
No need to scroll down more actions to remove a label. Instead have a look at subject line and at the end of it you will notice every label with a separate "x" link. Just click on it and that label will be removed from mail/conversation you are reading!

If you are sunscriber of Digital Insipration or Life Hacker, then you might have guessed already what I am serving today! But wait before you quit as there is really more to this Facebook Friends Collage trick.
Last month Amit found out "—" option by which you can create your facebook friends collage as shown above! The "—" options is also highlighted in screenshot on right side.
There are two things I have noticed about it…
Collage contained all friends! (it have beeen better if we can just create collage for selected friends!)
This new feature by Orkut wil remove need to use Google Talk, Gmail or Thrid party scripts/tools to get instant notification when someone send scraps to you!
Now whenever a new scrap appear on your scrapbook you will see a notification balloon in bottom-right side of your browser. (as shown in above screenshot)
If you have noticed then it seems orkut added complete new column named notice for this feature. We may expect more notice box specially next to new friend requests, new friend approval and other stuff!
Two days before I read about this cool feature on Orkut’s officical blog itself but was waiting eagrly to get it on my account.
If you havent got it yet, don’t worry as you will be geting it on your account soon!
Above will add a "Ignore ALL" bookmark on browsers bookmark toolbar. Next time when you visit it, just click on that "Ignore ALL" bookmark and all the spam will disappear. (Need video tutorial?)

Like other big-old messenger (yahoo, msn, etc) Google talk now have limited picture emotions!
The quantity and quality of these emotions is but surprisingly low. May be Google will add more and better emotions soon.

2. Group-Chat Feature
This is one I guess most guys eagerly waiting for. Very often bunch of people are chatting on common topic like recent cricket match, a new offer, movie, etc.
Now curtsey of this feature you all can chat in same window! 🙂
Simple way to do this is start chatting with your friend and as people come online invite them to join conversation. Following screenshot shows pictorially how to invite people to join your Google-Talk conversation!
These new feature are only available with GoogleTalk embedded in Gmail. Lets hope an update for official Google Talk Client soon!

Today I have noticed orkut added cool interface for adding photos to scrapbook! Look for “add photo” link in scrapbook. It is below the textbox for writing scraps. You can also check following screenshot.
Now once u click on the link you will get a wizard where you will have three options…
1. Upload a picture from your computer to scrapbook (as you do while adding picture to your orkut album)
Today I returned to blogosphere after around a month break and surprised to see this cool feature by Orkut!
This feature named “add stuff” will let you add stuff to your Orkut profile! If you are on Facebook then you may be familiar with similar concept of facebook applications which let you add stuff developed by others!
As of now the only stuff available is “ask friend” which after adding let you ask questions to your friends!
So here comes steps to get your question answered by our friends!
Click on add stuff link in left sidebar of your Orkut Profile/ Orkut Home page (as shown in screenshot besides)
You will be taken to the page where you can manage (add/remove) Orkut stuff. As of now only stuff available “ask friends” will be waiting for you as shown in following screenshots. (click on following screenshot to enlarge it)
Click on add and return to Orkut Home page or your Orkut profile page and you will see a link – Ask Friends there!
Just click on that link and you will be taken to page where you can…
type your question
chose a small label for it
chose which friends to ask question
delete previously asked question,
view answers to your questions
rate answers with just one-click

Similarly you can answer your friends questions! Just click on ask friends link on their profile. Note that this link will only appear if your friend asks any question!
