Facebook says “Don’t depend on Java” for it’s new photo uploader

Once again the Facebook is going to change a major thing in it’s design, and this time it’s the way how you upload your photos. Currently it’s done by using third party ActiveX and Java applet. But after so many complaints and loads of error in this uploader, they are going to change it completely. For the new uploader developers have set some goals which are,

  • Don’t depend on Java.
  • Uploads should be asynchronous; that is, you should be able to browse around on Facebook while an upload is ongoing.
  • The uploader’s UI needs to integrate well with current and future revisions of Facebook’s chrome.
  • UI iteration needs to be easy (no recompiling code).
  • Updates and deployment of any binaries should be as secure, seamless and user-friendly as possible.

To use this uploader you have to install a Facebook plug-in. Once you have installed this plug-in you will be able to upload your photos with the new uploader which users html an css but with a very cool way 😉

The best thing in this uploader is that you can continue with your work on Facebook, doesn’t matter what you are doing you can do it simultaneously while uploading photos.

Facebook’s latest bug, showing same friend multiple times in friend’s suggestion

I must say that last few weeks were not good for facebook.com and it’s designer team. First the new news feed which was not liked by most of it’s users and then the virus which attacked Facebook last month. And now we have some bugs on the world’s best social networking site one of which is in the friend’s suggestions or find friends section.

Yes the friend’s suggestion column which show the people you can add as friends and become a fan of public profiles you like. It’s working fine but the bug here is that it’s showing same friend multiple time on the same page 😛

Just check out the screenshot below and see what I mean.

Obviously it’s not a bug that harms someone, it’s just so annoying to hide the same suggestion again and again. To go to your friend’s suggestion page click here and see whether it’s there in your profile or not.

Share your facebook photos with selected friends

Facebook, a well known social networking website which is not only famous for it’s applications and clean design but also for it’s out standing privacy features. Here I am writing about such a privacy feature which is a necessity for all those Facebook users who love to add random friends but don’t want to share every personal thing with them.

How to share your pics with selected friends on Facebook?

  • First go to the album privacy page. You can also access this page by Settings>>Privacy Settings>>Profile>>Edit Photo Album Privacy Settings.
  • Now on that page you can see all your Facebook albums including Wall Photos and Mobile Uploads.
  • Select the album which you want to set visible to selected friends only.
  • Now click on customize… under Who can see this?

  • Now in the pop-up select some friends and start typing your friends name who all can see that particular album.

Forget your Facebook password, how to get new/reset password

Today I am going to write about the most common problem with Facebook, which are login related issues. The solution we are discussing here is for Facebook forget password, cannot login, Facebook account hacked, how to reset your Facebook password e.t.c. These are some common problems with same solution. In any case when you can’t login to your Facebook account, you just have to reset your password.

How to reset my Facebook account password?

To reset your Facebook password, follow the steps below,

  • First go to the reset password page, this page is the same which you get when you click on forget password link on your login page.
  • Then you will be redirected to a page similar to that which’s given below, type the CAPTCHA (text in box) and enter your login e-mail id there.

  • Then click on the reset password button, now check your inbox of the e-mail address which you use for login. The same password reset mail will be sent to any other e-mail id too which is associated with your Facebook account.
  • After clicking on ‘Reset Password’ button either enter the Confirmation Reset Code which you can get from your e-mail id inbox or you can simply click on the link sent to you with the confirmation code in your e-mail inbox.
  • Enter your new password, re-type it and that will be your new Facebook password.

Now you will be redirected to your homepage and next time you have to login with your new password.

How to deal with your fake/impostor facebook profile

This post is for all those Facebook users who wants to report a fake or impostor  profile. You can report any such Facebook profile that violates Facebook’s terms and conditions or Facebook’s statement of Rights and Responsibilities. There is a hair line difference between a fake and an impostor profile and here we need to understand that as the method for reporting both of them are slightly different.

We are using the term ‘Fake’ here for the profiles that are using Fake profile name and if that name is yours (or anyone you know) then that will be an impostor profile that is if someone has created an account to impersonate or imitate you or someone else.

When I can report?

You can report a fake profile to Facebook whenever anyone violates Facebook’s terms and conditions.That can be:

  • Profiles that impersonate you or someone else
  • Profiles that use your photos
  • Profiles that list a fake name
  • Profiles that do not represent a real person
  • Profiles that have been hacked

How to report a Fake/Impostor profile?

If someone is impersonating you or someone else, go to his/her profile page an click on “Report/Block this person” link on the left bottom of the page.

Then check the “Report this person” box and use “impersonating you or someone else”. Enter the Impersonated profile link in the box given there and add required comment which is mandatory too.Finally click submit.

However if someone is using fake profile name then just use “Using a fake name” option in the report type and add comments in “What makes it fake” box, click submit.

How to make your Facebook ‘live feed’ more live [News Feed Solution]

It’s just few days of the launch of Facebook new ‘News Feed’. Doesn’t matter if people are totally against it, everyone is still using Facebook normally and spending the same time of day on it.

So today I am writing about how to make your ‘Live Feed’ more active but please note that this post is only useful to you if you are having more than 250 friends on Facebook. By default your ‘live feed’ is set to show the recent updates by 250 or lower Facebook friend of yours, so if you are having more than 250 Facebook friends, then some updates by your friends will not be shown in ‘live feed’.

Solution:

To get all the updates from all of your Facebook friends just follow the steps below,

  • Go to your Facebook Homepage and select ‘live feed’ option.
  • Now at the bottom of your page, select Edit Options, it will open News Feed Settings.

  • Then in the News Feed Settings, find the box “Maximum number of friends shown in Live Feed” and change 250 to 5000 as on Facebook you cannot have more than 5000 friends.
  • Select save then. Obviously a higher number means you will see new posts more frequently. 🙂

Isn’t it a cool trick, well for all those people who thinks that Facebook live feed is not working properly, I think this could be a solution for you too. But still I am getting lots of complaints about ‘Facebook is not working’ or ‘Is Facebook under maintenance’. Even I am facing some problem like these and we can’t say that Facebook is 100% up, there are some problem with the operation of Facebook. Hope they will fix it soon.

The latest Facebook virus via password reset e-mails

trojan-virusThere’s a new virus on the net which is relating itself from the biggest social networking site Facebook. The virus known as Bredolab is actually spreading on the net by e-mails which sends a trojan file attached to an e-mail which looks like “Facebook Password Reset Confirmation” e-mail send officially by Facebook. Few months back facebook was under the attack of fake facebook pages which was used to get the private information like password username e.t.c from the users. Fortunately that was controlled by Facebook on time but in that case Orkut was not that lucky as Facebook. Few fake pages hacked thousands of Orkut profiles.

Few things to consider:

  1. Facebook never sends an attachment with ‘Password Reset’ e-mail.
  2. Always check the sender’s domain name, it should be from facebook
  3. Do not open any unknown mail doesn’t matter what it is.
  4. Beware of Bredolab virus everywhere on the net.
  5. Don’t open a mail with subject “Facebook Password Reset Confirmation” unless you have asked for a new password.
