See friendship between any two people on Facebook [How-to]

Long time back Facebook introduced a feature by which you can see friendship between you and your friend. Later they extended it to see friendship between your friends but do you know that you can also use this to see friendship and mutual friends or likes between any two people on Facebook doesn’t matter if they are in your friend’s list or not? Let’s see how you can do this.

How to see friendship between two people?

The basic link to see the friendship between two friends is this:

https://www.facebook.com/Sauravjit?and=aditya.kane

where Sauravjit and aditya.kane are the usernames of me and my friend.

Now suppose that I want to see friendship between two people who are on Facebook but they are not friends say profile.1 and profile.2 (both are usernames of the respective profiles). For that I just have to replace Sauravjit with profile.1 and aditya.kane  with profile.2 and it will show friendship between the two.

What is a username?

Username is a unique name or ID of every profile on Facebook. You can find anyone’s username on Facebook by opening his/her profile and see the link in address bar. The text after www.facebook.com/ will be the username of that profile. For example the link of my profile is:

http://www.facebook.com/Sauravjit , so my username is Sauravjit.

Use of checking friendship between two people?

Using this trick will help you if you want to see mutual friends or likes or even tagged photos between any two people on Facebook depending upon the privacy level of that profile.

If it’s not showing any data then either the friends/photos are locked or there is no mutual content between the two. I hope this trick will help some of our readers who love to check random profiles of friends. 😉

Feel free to drop a comment below if you have any doubt. 🙂

Facebook redesigns Photo Albums with cleaner look and new features

Once again Facebook changed the way we see photos on it and this time the change is pretty good. They have changed the theme of photos and its album. Now Facebook shows much bigger photo thumbnails with a cleaner design. Also there are some newly added features like featured photo, direct likes and comments e.t.c. Let’s have a look at these newly added features.

Design:

A clean four column design for photos and three column for albums look way better than the previous one. You can also browse tagged, and recent photos/albums easily just with a single click. Check out the screenshots below:

Slideshow:

Now you can rollover your mouse cursor on an album to see slideshow of the pics in that album. It’s definitely a useful and interesting feature.

Highlight your photo:

Love a particular picture? Now you can highlight a picture easily with a single click. Highlighting a pic will show a bigger thumbnail of that picture in photos.

Easily Add Location and Details:

Now you don’t have to open every single picture to edit it or add a location. You can do it without opening it as well.

Liking and Commenting:

Loved someone else’s pic? Now you can like or comment on the thumbnail itself without opening it.

Facebook also started showing faces using face detection for tagging friends. Personally I love these features a lot mainly because it’s not confusing and easy to use with a clean interface. Don’t forget to share your views with us.

Beware! Your current profile picture is public on Facebook

Facebook is trying hard to make most of the user’s private content public. First they launched Cover Photos where we don’t have any option of making pictures private i.e. only friends can see them. Now they have launched another feature which will automatically make current profile picture public.

From now every time you upload a profile picture, it will be public by default. Even if your profile picture album is set to be private, the current profile picture will be public and it will be shown to everyone who visits your profile or opens up your profile picture album.

Thankfully we have an option of making profile pictures private. We will tell you how you can do it but first of all check your recently uploaded profile pictures whether they are private or not.

How to make a profile picture private again?

In order to make a profile picture from public to private again open your profile and go to photos. Now open your profile picture album and open a particular picture which is public. Then click on the Earth icon (in case the pic is public) given below your name and select your privacy level. See the screenshot below for more clarification:

From the drop down list you can select from the following four options:

Public: Picture will be public and visible to anyone on Facebook.

Friends: Enlarged Picture will be visible to your friends only. However anyone can see the thumbnail.

Only Me: Enlarged picture will be visible to you only.

Custom: You can select few friends who can or cannot see your picture.

Click on your desired option and close the picture.

So next time just make sure you do these necessary changes before you upload a new profile picture. Please share your views about public profile pictures in the comment section below. Click here for more Facebook Posts.

New Facebook for iOS, Version 5.0 [Review]

Facebook finally updated their Facebook for iOS application i.e. official applications for iPhone, iPad and iTouch with a new look, faster engine and timeline support. The main thing about this update was to provide a faster mobile app and they did it perfectly. As compared to older version of Facebook for iOS this version 5.0 takes very less time to load. They have also removed the “Slide to Refresh” option, now you just have to click on the banner to see new updates. Let’s have a deeper look at the application.

Design:

I like the overall design of the new application. Check out some screenshots of the app:

Speed:

This latest version of Facebook for iOS is very good when it comes to speed i.e. the time it takes to load homepage or profile or some picture and that too without getting crashed again and again.

Messages:

You must be familiar with the application “Facebook Messenger”, it’s a nice application where you can send or receive Facebook inbox messages without accessing whole Facebook news feed. But you don’t need a messenger separately now as Facebook integrated same messenger interface in Facebook for iOS 5.0. Now you can easily send and receive messages to your friends and get to know when they read your message.

Photos:

Again a faster loading feature, now it takes very less time to open a picture than it used to be in earlier versions.

What Else?

Finally this version of Facebook supports “Timeline Profiles”, except that there are some other changes as well. Like, now you don’t need to go to the top and refresh page again and again to read latest updates. It updates automatically and you just have to click on top “New Stories” bar.

Another feature they have added is that you have Instant access to your Notifications. No need to open a separate page to open likes or comments.

Not so good thing:

One thing I don’t like about this update is that the news feed is showing cropped pictures instead of full uploaded pictures. Most of the time it automatically crops the face of the person in the picture. Check the news feed and actual picture size screenshots below:

Another feature which is not present here is small thumbnails of all the pictures uploaded to that album which used to be on the bottom of picture in earlier versions.

Personally I like this version of Facebook mainly because of its performance and User Interface. Don’t forget to share your views with us.

Things you should keep in mind before updating your Facebook cover picture

Facebook cover pictures, a very nice and popular feature of Facebook Timeline Profiles, but this can also be one of the worst thing of your profile if you are not using it properly. Also while using your own picture as cover you should always keep the privacy thing in mind. Here are few tips and suggestions for you before you upload a cover picture.

  1. Cover pictures are the banner of your profile, it should be good as this is the first thing that a visitor is going to see on your profile. You can choose from thousands of beautifully designed and free cover pictures available online on different websites. Google it to visit such websites.
  2. The orientation of the picture should be landscape not portrait.
  3. The exact size of a Facebook cover picture is 851 pixels wide by 315 pixels tall, try avoiding pictures smaller than this standard size else it will stretch your image.
  4. Make sure that nothing in the cover picture is hiding behind your profile picture, for example it’s not a good idea to hide one of your friends behind your profile picture in a group photo. You can try merging your cover and profile picture to avoid this situation.
  5. In case you are updating your own picture please keep in mind that these pictures are public and visible to 900 million other users of Facebook. Unfortunately it’s not possible to make cover pictures album private. If you still want to upload your own picture then it’s always a good idea to delete the older pictures in cover pictures album. You can upload them again anytime you want to.
  6. Even if you remove your current cover pic, this will not make the cover picture album hidden. People can still view your older cover pictures.
  7. Don’t upload same picture every time, to reuse a picture as your cover go to your timeline, rollover mouse to cover picture and click “Change Cover”. Then click “Choose from Photos…” from the drop down list.
  8. Reposition the photo properly; the main subject of that picture should be visible on your profile. Avoid cutting body parts or faces as this will look bad.

These are some tips which will guide you to upload a cover pic that will look good keeping your safety in mind. Stay connected for more Facebook Tips.

How to check if your system is safe from Alureon/ DNS Changer or not?

Finally its 9th of July i.e. Malware Monday when there’s a risk that thousands of PC worldwide (including India) may lose their internet connection due to a virus called Alureon or DNS Changer Bot. Alureon is a malware designed to redirect the traffic to fake websites in order to steal user information such as financial transaction info or personal stuff like usernames, passwords e.t.c.

Alureon will also change the DNS of a system and redirect it to another server without any warning due to which that system won’t be able to access internet.

To check if your computer is infected or not; the DNS Changer Working Group created a list of websites which will tell you whether your PC is safe or not. One such website is http://www.dns-ok.us/.

Click on the website and it will tell you the status of your PC. If its GREEN your PC is safe but if its RED, your PC is possibly infected and you may lose your internet connection.

Here’s the list of websites where you can check if your PC is infected or not. To be on a safer side we suggest you not to make any online transaction or download any unknown file from the internet on July 9th 2012.
