Now Register .IN Domains from Godaddy!

Godaddy.com– One of the most popular domain registrar has now come up with support to register ‘.in’ and other ccTLD ( Country code top-level domains). I personally take it as an opportunity, becuase, earlier we used to miss out all the discounts and coupon code offers while registering for .in domains. 🙂

Not only options to purchase ‘.in’ domains are visible, except this, other India related domains that are now being supported by GoDaddy are “ .co.in | .firm.in | .gen.in | .ind.in “ etc. As GoDaddy has now included support to purchase Indian domains, you can also move your .in domains from existing registrars to GoDaddy.

Since long, there were rumors around the web about launch of some feature in iGoogle that would help you personalize your iGoogle’s home screen. Google have made this rumor a truth, and recently released an iGoogle theme creator, using which you can create, use or share themes for iGoogle page without any hassle.

To test the effectiveness of the iGoogle theme creator, I tried to create a theme using Devils Workshop Wallapaper and the result is in front of you. 🙂 If you too want to create one such theme for your iGoogle page using your own pic, then simple head over to the iGoogle theme creator page, upload your pic, crop it and its ready to be used as iGoogle Theme.

Orkut goes 5 Years Old!

Yesterday, Google team celebrated the fifth birthday of its social networking site ‘Orkut’. As a celebration initiative, you must have noticed the Orkut homepage displaying a doodle with Orkut logo in it.

This post is nothing but a reminder about the birthday of Orkut, our favorite social networking site. 🙂 Orkut Diary team wishes belated Happy Birthday to Orkut and all its team members dedicated towards development of new features every alternative day. 🙂

Now View Videos in Gmail Chat Window [New Feature]

In one of my recent post, I was talking about some Gmail features that may launch in the upcoming days, and it was also mentioned about some improvements and enhancement in video chatting feature. Though, this feature I am talking about today, is not related to chatting but it is quite similar to sharing and viewing videos in Gmail chat easily.

Just by having a glimpse on the image above, you can easily understand the exact use of the feature just released by Gmail. While chatting in Gmail window, as soon you enter any video URL, a small thumbnail of it will be generated inside the chat screen and you can click on it and view the video right within the chat window. If you are wondering, whether only YouTube videos will work this way, then its not so. You can use any video link to make it work as usual. Also, for your information, this new feature will only be available if you are using chat from within your browser, and not from Gtalk or any other messenger.

YouTube may soon roll ‘Download Video’ option!

Recently I saw an item on my feed reader that mentioned about some YouTube videos wherein a ‘download’ option was present by default. Though there are thousand of softwares available to download videos from YouTube, but there are many such users who were desperately waiting to see such feature inside YouTube. Seems YouTube have heard such users and rolled out this feature, though all YouTube videos don’t have this option yet.

Possibly, like Orkut, YouTube too, is trying to roll out this new feature phase wise. Or YouTube may be promoting viewers to view Obama’s video, because as of now I saw this (Download) feature only in ‘many’ videos related to Obama. But I am still optimist and think YouTube is rolling this feature slowly to all its videos! 😉

India’s top blogger – Amit Agarwal who blogs at Digital Inspiration has now come up with one of its kind initiative. Amit has organized to train blogging aspirants for creation of blogs and optimization & revenue generation to people who already own a blog. According to Amit, the exact details of the program is yet to be scheduled but its for sure that the program will be held sometime in the next week in Agra (U.P – India).

Also, it is said that, the event is organized by Google and no fees will be charged for this training program. All you need to do is just pre-register if you are planning to attend this training. Earlier, Gmail gadget for Google Desktop users was launched wherein a quite simple and user friendly interface to access and view your Gmail was present. Now Google has attempted one more step to make its products and services more popular, easy to use and user friendly.

Google has just announced the launch of a calendar gadget for Google desktop users, which can be easily used right from the desktop to manage all your appointments and schedules that would sync with your Google calendar. The Gmail gadget launched previously was said to work only for windows users, but this time it is not the same. This calendar gadget can be used in any OS, doesn’t matter whether it is Mac, Linux or Windows 🙂

Google’s Mail service – Gmail is about 4 year old and still Google hasn’t decided to lift the ‘beta’ tags from Gmail. The reason may be because Gmail team has many more plans to improve it.

Recently cnet team got an opportunity to have talks with the product manager of Gmail – Todd Jackson, who gives a few hints on the upcoming features and also points that this is not all, there are even better things they are working on.

A quick highlights on the upcoming features in Gmail as reported by cnet are here:

Addition of more themes into the existing Gmail theme library and also ability to create your own theme.
Improved Gmail Video Chat with higher clarity.
Better contacts manager.
Ability to send bigger size files via attachments.

With the growth of Orkut users, there are equal amount of rise in creation of fake profiles and malicious & other hatred activities being carried out inside this ‘so called’ Social networking sites.

Recently Arpit sent me a profile link that automatically gets diverted to a page that is cloned exactly with that of Orkut’s login page and when you enter your Orkut login information into the cloned page, they seem to store your data and automatically divert you to the homepage of Orkut.

So, this post is to aware you on how your password too, can be hacked within seconds. To prevent from such kind of hacking, you are requested, not to provide your Orkut login information in any other sites except in Orkut. As a precautionary measure, you should always punch in your password only in the login form that you get after typing www.orkut.com on the address bar.

Those who want to have a look on the fake login page, its here. But make sure that you do not enter your correct password on the page if you don’t want to loose your Orkut account. Open the page on your own risk, OrkutDiary will not be responsible if anything wrong goes with your account.
