Backup Gmail Emails using Gmail Backup

These days, online mail accounts are like postal addresses. All your official and personal communication takes place via E-mail ids and it would be a nightmare if you find that, your important information and emails were being deleted by hackers. To prevent from such kind of problems, you may make use of Gmail Backup, a tool to backup all your emails present in Gmail account. At present this tool is made available only for Gmail users and comes absolutely free. 🙂

  • Just download this tiny application, install it, and save your login into this application.
  • Also you’ll need to activate IMAP option from your Gmail settings page.

Now you can backup all your emails in a regular interval and store them locally.

Use Microsoft Word ’07 as a desktop blogging tool

Few moments ago, while using Microsoft Word 2007 I found it strange that there is an inbuilt option in Word 07 to use it as a desktop blogging tool. Personally I prefer Windows Live Writer (WLW) as a desktop blogging client, but making use of Word 07 too is not a bad idea, as Ms-Office is pre installed in almost all Windows systems and you need not install WLW which also requires .NET Framework to be pre-installed. Also this is good for blogger who does not blog too often.

Even I tried writing an article on my blog using Word and found that it is as simple and convenient as WLW. If you too want to blog using MS Word 07 just follow these simple procedure:

  • Open MS Word and hit the office button on the top left corner.
  • Go to New-> Blank & Recent-> New blog post
  • Use ‘Manage Account’ option on blog tool bar (pointed out on the image) to configure your online account
  • Just enter your contents and hit ‘Publish’
  • Instead you can even save an article as a draft on your weblog to edit it later from a remote computer.

That is all what it takes to blog using Word 2007. 🙂 As said earlier if you do not blog very often, than this is the best option available for you.

Check availability of bulk domains in a single click

Choosing the appropriate domain name before starting a blog or website is damn tiring. Registering a new domain, would surely create chaos on your mind. Choosing an appropriate extension like .com, .net, .org is another headache. Even after choosing an appropriate extension for your domain you’ll have to tinker whether those domains are available or not. And the whole process is time consuming too. So, today I have a list of few websites where in you can check the availability of bulk domains, all what it takes is just a single mouse click. 🙂 Though the use of these websites looks quite silly, it may really be useful while registering a new domain.

If you are a blogger and don’t know much on developing your own theme, you must have always wanted to get a good ready to use WordPress theme. Now schedule events from your Orkut Profile; New feature!

Approximately a month ago, Gaurav Dua mentioned on his blog that:
Orkut is going to introduce few more features in the coming days including ‘event’ feature, and it is so. Last afternoon when I logged into my Orkut profile I saw this option in my profile as well. 🙂

Well, I guess by now this feature must be available in everyone’s profile (as my profile gets all new feature at last). 🙂 But what is it all about?  I tried doing some research using this new feature, and I am going to say you all what I could do out of this thing..

Though I did not find this feature much useful, still I gave it a try. Immediately after hitting the ‘events’ button on the left sidebar of my homepage, I got a form to fill and I did so by entering one of my friend’s birth day and also invited some of my friends too, to attend the event. Guess all the invitees have got an invitation and have an option either to accept, reject or choose the option ‘may be attending’ for the invitation sent to them.

Well many things done and said, but it matter not how much features Orkut introduces, but what matters is how useful are those feature..? You too give it a try and let us know, personally how useful did you find this feature.

How I Got My Google Adsense Account Back In 14 Days

On Friday, October 10, 2008 I got an email from Google AdSense Team and I was shocked to read that my AdSense account is disabled due to invalid clicks.

It was really an embarrassing moment as there were 160$ on hold. Then finally, I decided to write an application to Google and I got a reply on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 saying :

On Friday, October 24, 2008 AdSense Team replied to my mail and I got my account back. When I opened my AdSense account my 160$ were still in it. It was hard to keep my feet on the ground. Then I decided to share my experience on how I got my AdSense account back in 14 days. Lets start :

My habit saved my account :

I have a habit to take screenshot of my AdSense account daily . When ever I noticed invalid clicks I used to take a screenshot, note the exact date and time and request invalid clicks. Click here to visit Invalid Clicks Contact Form

Where did I Appeal about disabled account :

When your account gets disabled by Google just remember that you have only one chance to make an appeal. So, your mail should be impressive and well written. You can write to Google from Online Appeal Form

What did I write :

As mentioned above about my habit, I wrote a big mail to Google giving them the exact date, time and screenshot about the invalid clicks. I knew it was my first and last chance, I also told them about my previous earnings.

Just after 14 days I got an mail from AdSense Team saying :

Thank you for clarifying your situation. We have reviewed your
circumstances and have reinstated your account, effective immediately.
Please note that there will be a delay of up to 48 hours before our
servers are informed of the update and ads start running on your website
again.

New feature in Orkut: Reply by chat!

Keeping in mind the stiff competition in the field of social networking sites, it seems even the Orkut team is heading towards innovating new things.. Recently Orkut announced the launch of Adult content filters and now ‘Reply by chat’ option. Firstly this feature appeared on the photo album of a Orkut guide, mentioning as a bug. But later on it was discovered that the fact was completely vague, rather it was a new feature introduced 🙂

On the screen shot above, you can clearly notice a new option ‘Reply by chat’, when clicked on it, the user is directed over to Gtalk window and a new conversation with the sender is automatically initiated. As far I’ve noticed this feature is available across the Orkut profile, from scrapbook to photo commenting, etc.

Also, do not get pissed if you do not find this option on your profile, as this option will be visible only if the sender of the scrap is currently online 🙂

It has also come to light, from Orkut help group that, this feature was implemented on 1st of November 😉

Moderate WordPress comments right from desktop

There’s a good news for blogger using WordPress as their blogging platform. The new plugin ‘Moderator’ developed by Daniel is really a boon for blogger who have got to moderate heavy amount of comments each day. This Adobe Air based app, currently in beta, helps you to approve all your moderated comments just within few seconds even without leaving your work.

  • Viewing unmoderated comments.
  • Dock and system tray notifications of the number of unmoderated comments.
  • Accept, delete, and spam comments from within the desktop client.
  • Close application window, or minimize it to the system tray while running.
  • Shows the Gravatar icons for the user who posted the comment.

The installation of this app is really very simple and takes a few moments to get started.
You are simply needed to download the plugin, and install it on your WordPress blog. Then activate the plugin and go to settings page for further instructions to download its desktop app.

Though this is really a welcoming app by all blogger, it has some disadvantages too 🙁
To my dismay, after installing it, I found that there is no option to reply to the comments moderated and it supports only 1 blog at a time. 🙁 It would have been really great if a ‘reply’ option too was present in this plugin. About multiple blog support option, Daniel have mentioned that he is working on it and is the top priority on its further releases. Infact we all know that this app is a beta release, we can expect improvements on later releases.  🙂
