How to change your BlackBerry phone time manually

Are you using a BlackBerry and getting a time error while Re-Booting your phone or cannot change your time after changing your location? Then this post is for you which will tell you how you can change your BlackBerry phone time manually without using any standard time zone.

The ‘Network Time’ or the ‘Time Zone’ is mostly same and correct time according to your location. But sometime what happens is that network cannot update it’s time due to unavailability of network or connection at that particular location. In that case you can manually set your BlackBerry phone’s time. Just follow the steps below:

Changing time manually:

  1. Turn on your phone and go to Menu by pressing the BlackBerry key.
  2. Now from your menu go to ‘Options’ and select Date/Time from the list.
  3. On your Date/Time page find the option ‘Use Network Time’ and select ‘No’ for that. When you select ‘No’ you will see a time and date appearing just below the option ‘Use Network Time’. Click on the time to manually adjust your clock. Once you’re done click the back button and select save.

That’s it; the time you changed in Step 3 will now appear on your phone’s home screen irrespective of the time in that zone or country. Anytime you want to switch back to your local time zone just select ‘ Use Network Time’ as ‘Yes’. This post is specially for those people who think that it’s not possible to change time yourself on your BlackBerry phone. 😉

As usual these two new features are very confusing too with little difference between them. These new features are ‘Tag Review’ and ‘Profile Review’. Both are nearly same which lets you to approve a post or photo tag before appearing on your profile and on Facebook. Let’s have a look at them.

Tag Review:

‘Tag Review’ a privacy feature that allows you to approve or reject a tag made by your friend on a photo or a post. The tag on that post or photo won’t appear until you approve it. If ‘Tag Review’ option is On you can check and approve tags and once it’s approved it will be automatically appeared on your wall. To enable this feature go to your privacy settings and click ‘Edit Settings’ given with ‘How Tags Work’ and click ‘Turn On Tag Review’.

Profile Review:

‘Profile Review’ is the second step of ‘Tag Review’. Once you have approved a Tag and activated the ‘Profile Review’ as well then it will ask you to Approve Profile Review so that Tagged stuff can be appeared on your profile. If you reject a pending post, the Tag will still be there but that photo or post won’t appear on your profile.

Profile Review option is given just above the Tag Review’ and you can activate it in same way. Once it’s activated you can go to your profile page to manage pending posts. Please note that Pending Posts tab will only appear on your profile if there’s a pending post/tag for review.

If you’re using Facebook from a long time then you probably know that Tag Review feature was earlier there on Facebook but Facebook disabled it after some time. It’s a nice and useful feature in terms of user privacy.

How to extract actual link of a video on Facebook

You can upload any video on it and share it with your friends as well on your website or anyone on the net. But if you don’t know how to share it with people who are not on Facebook have a look at the method below.

How to extract video link:

Upload a video on Facebook or open an existing video. Now click on ’embed this video’ given below that video.

Also make sure that your video is Public. That means everyone on the internet can see it. If your video is private then this tutorial will be of no use as one must login to Facebook to see that.

Now copy the Embed code and paste it somewhere like on notepad. For example the embed code for my video is:

<object width=”400″ height=”300″ ><param name=”allowfullscreen” value=”true” /><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.facebook.com/v/2214868644923″ /><embed src=”http://www.facebook.com/v/2214868644923″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”400″ height=”300″></embed></object>

You Embed code will be like this only, except some change in video link. See the above Embed code, the actual link of my video is the value in it, that is:

http://www.facebook.com/v/2214868644923

You can click on the link to see that video even if you are not logged into Facebook. The video will be in its maximum size but full screen option won’t work here.

Usage:

This video link might not be useful for all of you but you can use it in some cases like:

  1. Sharing a video where you don’t want people to know that who uploaded it.
  2. Sharing it as a comment on different websites.
  3. Sending the video to people who are not in your friend’s list.
  4. Sharing a video on different pages on Facebook.
  5. Sharing it on your website without embedding and not uploading on Youtube in order to keep limited viewers.

Don’t forget to share your views with us!

P.S Earthquake just felt in Delhi and North India. [@11:30 p.m IST]

Why There Should be Only One Admin for Your Facebook Page

Facebook pages, a good way to interact with people who like your business, work or anything in common like an artist or a place. Most of the people have their pages as well on Facebook along with their profile. Some pages are with smaller number of fans but some are huge enough that people add anybody from page as it’s admin so that page can be managed by a small group of people like 3 or 4 persons. This posts tells you few reasons why you should keep your Facebook Pages with a single admin only. Check out the points below:

  • Co-Admins can remove Actual Admin: The worst thing about Facebook pages is that you can’t have an admin with lower privileges. Evey admin will have same power, that means if you make someone admin of your page, he can even remove you as the owner of that page. So it’s better if you admin your page yourself or make an admin someone you know personally. Never give administrator rights to a stranger from that page.
  • Who updated the page: If you keep more than 2 admins there will be a problem that nobody know who posted a particular update. What if somebody posted something abusive on that page? You can never figure out who posted that so administrator powers might get misused.
  • Admin’s profile got hacked: What if one of the admin’s profile got hacked? His profile as well as the page he admins both will be misused and even the hacker can remove you as admin or delete that page. But this might be beneficial too, what if your own profile got hacked? Co-Admin can save your page in that case 😉
  • Changing Page settings: Unfortunately you don’t get notifications while a co-admin changes anything in your page. Also you can’t check everything on daily basis to find out whether everything is fine or not. So keep  your page’s settings to yourself only.

Please add a point if I missed something, also do tell us what are your views about Facebook pages?

How To Stop Those Useless Notifications from Facebook Groups

Facebook groups are a good way to interact with a number of people at the same time. You can share a post, photos, videos, events, documents simultaneously or you can even ask a questions. But a negative point of these groups is that admins or your friends can add you in  a group without your permission which leads to flooding of useless updates in your notifications page. One option of stopping these notifications is to unjoin that group, but there’s an alternate solution too where you can stop these notifications while staying in that group.

How to stop group notifications:

  • This will open the custom notifications, see the screenshot below.

Make the following changes:

  1. Select ‘Only posts I am subscribed to’ to completely stop notifications from that group, you will not receive any notification even if the admin posts. If you want updates from a post click ‘Subscribe’ link given with that post.
  2. Uncheck this box if you don’t want notifications as an E-Mail too.
  3. This box enables group chatting, if you feel that pop-up appeared by group chats are annoying too, then uncheck this box as well.

Now you’re all done, just click ‘Save Changes’ and that group will never disturb you again with annoying and useless notifications. Stay connected to Devils Workshop for more tips and tricks.
