How to Add your Blogposts to Facebook Automatically

As facebook is growing day by day, webmasters has found it as an gigantic source of visitors. You can easily promote your blog and get plenty of hits, just by posting it’s link on your facebook wall, which possibly may be read by a large community.

But, for me and probably for other fellow bloggers, it becomes very cumbersome to share each and every link on facebook manually.
I recently came across a tool, Wordbook, which may help you to add your Blog posts to your Facebook wall Automatically. The name WordrdBook, which may possibly been derived from from WordPress and Facebook. Below is a screen-shot of an Wordbook account :

  • A miniature version of your recent blog posts gets displayed in the “Boxes” tab of your Facebook profile.
  • In multi-author blog environment each blog author has provision to notify their friends about their blog/page posts.

You can find this plug-in in the wordpress library or check it out here.

Check if your website is mobile friendly

If someone says ‘the internet‘ our minds immediately pulls up an image of someone on a PC or a Notebook. Hence the priority of website design is usually on how a person using a PC or Notebook might perceive it. A report suggests that over 20 Million people access websites through their mobile devices every single day.

mobileok_check1

  • Mobile Validator is an online tool which can help you find out, how mobile friendly is a particular website. Just visit the Validator W3C website and enter the URL and click on Check.
  • It will carry out a bunch of tests and show results on if the website is mobile friendly or not.

I tested some popular websites with Mobile Validator.

Google.com

mobileok_check2

This test proves the Google.com should work absolutely fine being accessed with any mobile device. The image shows the results after the test.

MSN.com

mobileok_check3

MSN.com is obviously not a URL which is mobile friendly. The result “This page is not mobile friendly” was actually surprising and I did not really expect MSN.com to fail the test.

Yahoo.com

mobileok_check4

Yahoo.com when tested did much better than MSN. It scored a 93/100 3 tests failed out of 50. This does mean that some mobile devices might have issues viewing Yahoo.com

So if you have a website or a blog which you plan to make it available online, you might want to lookup Mobile Validator to carry out certain benchmarks for the website.

Blogging with email

Blogging has been the one single thing that has changed the face of the internet and made it what it is today. With the start of blogging, internet really became a democratic place, where anyone has the freedom to write and share his/her thoughts with the world.

Making a new blog is what a person dreams of when it comes to social networking. But what hinders the path is the thought of Designing, Maintaining & Contributing to the blog. In the busy lives of today, very few people have time dedicated to blogging. Today, I want to share with you, how can you make a blog of your own, and that too, without designing, subscribing or even registering for anything!

post

And, the magic wand is Posterous. With this service, you don’t have to worry about:

  • Designing
  • Implementing
  • Maintenance
ADVERTISEMENT

The two steps to be followed to create a full fledged blog are:

  1. Email anything to post@posterous.com (you can attach photo/video/mp3 files along)
  2. You’ll get an instant reply with your new blog address.

Now, is there anything (with that I really mean, anything) much simpler to do on the whole internet? Having a blog of your own without even a registration hindrance? To my knowledge there is nothing like it. You can update your blog on the fly from your computer or even from your cell phone. You have upto 1 GB personal space on Posterous.

Have a great idea? Just mail it to your posterous mail and it will be published.

Friend Connect: How it can micro-target adsense?

Friend Connect is quite a potent way for website owners and bloggers to become micro-sensitive to visitors. There are many new changes with this service and it allows for a greater amount of information to be shared in the form of interests and hence allowing visitors to find relevant people and websites online.

How will Friend Connect help?

Friend Connect will allow visitors on a website to share information through member gadgets and can have relevant ads from Google Adsense using information taken with the various interactive web gadgets. For example if you put up Nokia as your favorite mobile maker while on a mobile review website, Friend Connect will get you relevant Nokia ads with Google Adsense.

This can be quite handy as it will actually increase the chances of someone clicking on the ads being displayed on the website. This may not be very handy for big websites as the assumption with Friend Connect is that all your visitors might have a Google account especially for certain features but it is very handy for bloggers as it is mainly an interactive tool to help make the content on your website sensitive to what visitors are interested in.

What is Friend Connect?

  • Friend Connect has a lot of new gadgets you can add-on to build a community for your blog. It allows you to send newsletters, gather users’ interests and review data.
  • It allows you to exchange messages on the website via poll gadgets or interests’ section can be included on to a website using HTML code which is generated by Friend Connect.
  • A neat way to get feedback about your blog with Friend Connect is their Ratings and comments web-gadgets which can be great way to get instant feedback on the content of a website.

5 deadly SEO link building mistakes that you must know to build a better blog

Google is looking at us and penalizing link spammers. Is your website in danger of being blacklisted and banned from Google for link spam? Yes, No, Maybe???

If you’re not 100% sure. Read the post below……

seo_links_image

SEO link building is now one of the most done activity in any business/blog. The simple logic here is the back-link’s give you a higher PR (Page Rank) and PR makes you rank high in SERPS (Search Engine Results Page). After all a higher ranking will definitely gives you a hight traffic that implies more money.

Back-links really gives you 90% of your Google Rank and this is the reason that gave this much importance to it in business/blogging. Most of the people misunderstand it. Beginner’s should first know that not all back-links are good but some can actually hurt you than help you.

SEO Link-building is all about building links that are natural. Google did not design their ranking system to be manipulated. It was designed to reward good sites that get linked to it naturally. That’s why getting the right links can be incredibly difficult if you try and do it manually.

Unfortunately, you have to build in links these days otherwise you will not be competitive. If you sit around and wait for sites to link to you, you might wait forever. The good thing is that this also gives the “small guy” a fair shake to get good rankings in Google, Yahoo and M.S.N.

And coming to the topic here is a list as follows.

1:Mass Link Packages

Now a days people are selling Mass Link Packages which are not really worth a mention but drags you as the title says “PR7 in 30 days. Mostly the site’s in this packages will be of the networks that don’t have traffic and have irrelevant information.

2: Link Exchanges

Back in the day, exchanging links was the main SEO link-building strategy. You link to me, I link to you and we both win. Right? Wrong! Google caught on to this when hundreds of link farms opened up. Google can easily trace reciprocal links and they simply don’t count for much anymore. Getting links from big link exchange networks can actually hurt your business.

3: Linking From Non-Indexed Sites

Most people who spend hours building those free Back-links make the mistake of building links on non-indexed sites. For your back links to count, the page on which you have your link has to be indexed. Having links on non-indexed pages means nothing. It’s a waste of time and some really shocking thing is some people sell those lists in forums.

4: Not Using Anchor Text

At first this probably won’t sound too scary, but if you build 2,000 links without relevant anchor text your site can easily pass for a spam site that just gets random links. By using anchor text that is related to your site, it gives your links link-juice; meaning it makes your links relevant and increases the perceived value of each link. And this effects your website traffic because a SPAM site will be banned up to 5 years which affects your traffic.

5: Inorganic links

As I mentioned earlier, Google designed the page rank system to work organically which means it should be built naturally. If you go and get 1000 links overnight from the same site then Google’s alarms will go off and you might land yourself in some Back-linking trouble with Google which may even BAN you.

Slow and steady wins the race” – especially if you have a new site

And do comment, your comments make me feel rich 😛 .

Geocities is no more

geocitiesFor anyone interested in the internet leave alone blogging, the fact that Geocities has been shut-down seems to invoke a tinge of sadness. Geocities was started way back in 1994 and met extraordinary success.

Yahoo bought Geocities for a massive $3.5 billion at the height of the dot-com bubble. It was quite an overpriced acquisition as Geocities only had 1 million users. Rupert Murdoch bought Myspace for almost 1/7th of that price with almost 100 times more users.

Lost Oppurtunity

  • Despite the price Yahoo paid, Geocities was a excellent acquisition. It had a very active community.
  • Yahoo with its access to money and expertise could have turned Geocities into Facebook or something even bigger.
  • Along with a lot of things over the years Yahoo got wrong, handling of Geocities was also one of them.

Birth of Blogging

Geocities along with Lycos, were offering web hosting of pages on the internet before anyone else was doing it. This lead to many users expressing themselves online. It provided an outlet for photographers, artists and most importantly writers to express themselves without needing to look for publishers. Those were the early days when people from various fields with expertise ended up sharing their views online with their own homepage.

In those bylanes of Geocities and Lycos the concepts of blogging were born. So as a professional Blogger and all those other bloggers and writers who wrote their first articles on the net using Geocities and then moved to Blogger or WordPress, there is sense of gratitude for what Geocities acheived and also sadness that it is no more.

Three silly mistakes to avoid while writing an article

Hi! Today I am going to share my views on “Three Silly mistakes done by blogger’s while they write an article”.

Incorrect Hyper-linking

The most seen mistake which annoys the visitors is incorrect URL linking. I will show your the best example for it.

Incorrect URL linking

Here If I keep my cursor on GoDaddy it shows me that the URL is “http://www.devilsworkshop.rsites.dev6.rt.gw/some-tips-to-follow-before-buying-a-domain-name/www.godaddy.com“. This really annoys the user. Its a very common mistake and have seen this even with one of the most famous blogs like ProBlogger.

The Mistake

This mistake is because while hyper-linking, he didn’t put the “http://” before “www.godaddy.com”. So the web-browser thinks that www.godaddy.com is a directory in DevilsWorkshop.

Spelling Mistake’s

This is the most common mistake seen in a blog. This is caused mainly if the blogger doesn’t check the spelling mistakes after he completes writing his article. This affects your readers. And mainly affects your non-English readers because if they want to translate your blog into their language. They use some Translators like Google Translator, Yahoo BabelFish etc. If that article consists of spelling mistakes, the Translator will not be able to translate the article. So, it affects the reading and also the non-English readers. So it annoys them.

Irrelevant Advertisements

A CPA offer shown as an advertisement in a Tech Blog

We are now seeing the kind of advertisements even in Tech Blogs which are not at all related to the content and also some of them are CPA offers. This really affects the traffic of the particular site.

Irrelevant Keywords Used in a Tech Blog

This is mainly due to adding/using irrelevant keywords in the meta tags and also keyword stuffing. Mainly bloggers do this because if they use keywords like lung cancer, CPA etc., their websites will be displayed with the advertisements which pay a lot as compared to other advertisements.

Hope it helped you 🙂 .

I will be glad if you share your views about these mistakes or any other mistakes which you would like to be mentioned here 🙂 .
