Monday Morning Blues [21 Dec 09]

Today is another Monday morning and I just realized we have reached the last ten days of this year. We are still carrying out tests on the new DW redesign project. I can already see some of your suggestions being followed quite enthusiastically.

Subscribers are 7000 +

One very important thing I have to share with you as many of you visiting Devils Workshop might have noticed it that we have now crossed 7000 subscribers. This is quite satisfying personally as when I joined rtBlogs over three months ago we were around the 5000+ mark.

Top Posts

Finally I realized that next Monday would be the last one in this year. So with next Monday’s Top Posts I will include the posts you liked over the whole year. Let me know through your comments which were you favorite posts in the whole year and I will include the most popular ones on Top Posts list. Obviously the list would be much longer than 5. 😉

Monday Morning Blues [14 Dec 09]

I am back with Monday Morning Blues this week. This week will hopefully be a scorcher as we have plenty of posts in the pipeline and also will be doing a lot more of  research and development on what the new avatar for Devils Workshop should be.

Help us Redesign Devils Workshop

Many of you might be aware that we are testing out some new ideas to redesign DW. The idea is to keep the functional part of the website similar to the one it is now but make changes to make it more attractive and helpful. We have got some very interesting ideas through your comments and hope to get more of them. You can either send in your ideas by commenting on this post or read the original post regarding the re-design and comment on it.

Writing on Crictalks

You might be aware that Crictalks is also a part of rtBlogs. We want it to be a multi-authored blog which discusses cricket and various aspects about it. Its a blog to let in on peoples opinion and anything related to cricket. We are also working on spicing it up a bit so stay tuned. 😉

Help us re-design Devils Workshop

Every now and then winds of change come to Devils Workshop and presently we are in one such situation. After getting some random suggestions and feedback from our readers we have decided to make changes to Devils Workshop’s design.

So now the Devils (rtCamp Developers and Web Designers) are all in the workshop implementing ideas and testing them.

Your opinions matter…

We are fiercely proud of our readers and contributors as they constantly keep suggesting changes through email or random comments. We have kept some suggestions in mind before taking this road to redesign, but we want more opinions and ideas from you. Best way to do this is to comment to this post. Rest assured we will be monitoring the comments very closely for ideas.

If you have an idea, as suggestion do write in a comment to let us know and we will try to work with those ideas. If you do not have any ideas then the best way to help us would be to write in what you like in the present design through your comments. 🙂

Is the New orkut a clone of ‘Facebook’

You may have heard about the tight competitions between orkut and facebook. Now as a part of their competition, Orkut has updated it’s look and functions. Most of them are similar to that of Facebook. I have found several similarities and now, Let us just run through the 5 major similarities between new orkut and facebook ;

1) Status Updating System :

This is one of the best feature provided by the Facebook. Orkut has started it before, but it was not that much effective. But now, the status works similar in facebook and on Orkut. Here is the system in Orkut :

and here is it in facebook :

2.Chat Application :

The chat application that is shown in the bottom right corner of Facebook / orkut also shows similarities.

Just check their position and style ;

3.Commenting System:

This was one of the greatest features that Facebook had. As a part of the beta version of new orkut, orkut has tested this system too in it. Here is the shot of commenting system in Orkut;

and here is it in Facebook :

4.Friends suggestion tool :

This is another tool that became popular in facebook. Even-though there is a difference in appearance, this too does the same job.

5.Friends box :

An avatar of your friends (in a random order) on your sidebar – Under a tab named ‘friends’ or ‘my friends’. That is the common option that prevailed in both these sites from the starting itself. We can count it as one of the best similarities between these two sites.

These are only 5 major similarities, which i found in a rough look. There are still many other similarities like this.If you are able to find out any of it, then post it as comments here.We can add that too in this post.
