Share Flickr photos on Facebook

Facebook is a great and convenient place to share your pictures with friends and family. This has been recognized by Flickr and now it has a great feature which allows Flickr users to share their photos on Facebook.

<Image Credit>

How does it work?

All a Flickr user has to do is visit this link and connect their Flickr and Facebook account so Facebook can easily access your Flickr images and show display them. It can automatically share your image once you upload them. To be on the safe side only if you upload an image publicly then will it be automatically streamed to Facebook. This is a good thing as Facebook has had quite a few privacy headaches lately.

This could be a great way for Yahoo to have further integration into with Social networks and Facebook mainly. Flickr needs strong support environment to survive and Yahoo cannot probably give it that. So the next best bet would obviously be Facebook.

What do your think about your Flickr images being shared on Facebook? Would you be interested or think two accounts should not have too much interconnectivity? Do let me know your views through your comments.

After Pakistan, Bangladesh Lifts Facebook Ban

Following the footsteps of authorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Authority has also lifted the ban imposed on Facebook nearly a week ago. Similar to what happened in Pakistan, a number of protesters were seen on the streets in Bangladesh in last week of may, protesting against the “Everyone Draw Mohammad” day organized by a group of Facebook users.

The objectionable content might have hurt the feelings of many people who saw or heard about it, and in-turn forced the Bangladesh government to order a Ban on the much famous social networking website.

Bangladesh Telecommunication officials said that they have restored access to Facebook in Bangladesh after the US-based social networking website agreed to remove objectionable images from their website. This step came as a relief to Facebook fans in Bangladesh, as it became hugely popular among the people.

Facebook launches US Politics page

Facebook has changed the way people interact amongst each other. To reach out to a younger demograph usually the best bet is social networks and YouTube on the internet and when it comes to social networks the best bet is Facebook. So it is no wonder we see many US politicians having a Facebook Page which allows them to reach out to people from across country if not the world.

This US Politics Page which is dedicated to news and links to be shared related to US Politics. There is also a a link for voters to Register to vote for upcoming elections in the United States. This page is similar to Facebook’s sports page.

This is a great trend by politicians to interact with their voters online through Facebook. It would be nice to see Indian politicians also show some proactive interest in engaging with the urban youth through Facebook and other social networks.

What do you think about Social networking groups and pages related to politics?

Facebook Recommends Making Your Photos Public!

This morning, I woke up to see new Facebook privacy settings on my Facebook account. Without wasting time I jumped to new privacy settings page to discover Facebook’s new privacy settings (read confusion).

After brainstorming for a while, when I failed to figure out much from new privacy settings, I decided to check “recommended settings” by Facebook.

Have a look at following screenshot and as you can see below – your photos are visible to everyone in recommended settings.

Considering user-base of Facebook, many users will give “recommended settings” a try only to end up making their personal information, that’s too photos, publicly accessible!

What do you think about this recommendation by Facebook? Are you going to make your images public or viewable by your friends only?

How to write in Bold/Underline in Facebook chat

Recently author Sahil Malhan posted about List of Facebook Chat Emoticons to Spice up the Chat. This is just an extension to add more spice while you are chatting on Facebook chat. Just like gtalk, you can also write in bold and underlined text in facebook chat however there’s no option for italics.

How to write in BOLD:

Suppose I want to write

“This is a sample BOLD text”

So just before and after the above text I’ll a an asterisk “*” (multiply/star button on your keyboard, use without quotes) i.e

This is a sample BOLD text will be shown as This is a sample BOLD text on facebook. Just give it a try right now 😉

How to write in UNDERLINE:

Now suppose I want to write

“This is a sample UNDERLINE text”

So for this, add an underscore ” _” (without quotes) before and after the above text. i.e

This is a sample UNDERLINE text will be shown as This is a sample UNDERLINE text on facebook.

Please Note that:

The code we are using for underline was earlier used for italics, so don’t confuse between both of them. Unfortunately there’s no working code for italics right now, check out this space for updates. Also unlike gtalk, you cannot use both of them simultaneously, you can either underline or bold text.

Don’t forget to share something interesting you know about Facebook Chat. 🙂
