Facebook may not allow you to use retwt.me domain

While updating my status message of Facebook from twitter, I got an error message which says “Some content in this message has been reported as abusive by Facebook users.” This error message was generated due to the use of retwt.me, the official URL shortener of tweetmeme.

In most of the cases you won’t be able to just update your status. However you may also have to face a security check-up just because of the use of this link. In that case you will get a mail from Facebook,

We have detected suspicious activity on your Facebook account and have temporarily suspended your account as a security precaution. It is possible that malicious software was downloaded to your computer or that your password was stolen by a phishing website designed to look like Facebook.

You can regain control of your account by logging into Facebook and following the on-screen instructions.

Please be sure to visit the Facebook Help Center (http://www.facebook.com/help.php) for further information regarding these security issues and let us know if you need assistance.

Thanks,
Facebook Security Team

I tried this thing from 2 more profiles too and both got the same error message. That means from now, Facebook may not allow you to use retwt.me in your status updates of anywhere on Facebook. However you can post the same original link shortened by using any other URL shortener like bit.ly or tinyurl.

Well this is not at all a good news for tweetmeme which is gaining popularity these days due to their tweetmeme button. I think that’s the reason why tweetmeme has started using other URL shorteners too.

The page doesn’t looks nice like the original Facebook but still you can use all  the features of Facebook and that too without consuming so much bandwidth. In this  mobile version, you have all the necessary links required for using Facebook comfortably like Home, Profile, Inbox, Friends, News Feeds, Photos, Status Updates e.t.c. You can also watch the recently updated photos by your friends which are again light weight images ( nearly equal to 10kb).

12 Reasons why Facebook can suspend your account

Today I am going to tell you why Facebook can disable an account and trust me that it’s not a rare case when Facebook disables a profile or account, if you violate their any of the term or condition they will disable your account within a week. That’s the reason what makes Facebook clean and a social networking site with better privacy.

Below are the reasons why Facebook can suspend an account:

  1. Nudity or Pornography: This is the most common reason why a Facebook account gets suspend. If you use any such kind of picture or video anywhere in your profile or on Facebook, your account will be suspended without even a single report abuse.
  2. Abusive Language: If you use abusive language while writing anywhere on Facebook then they may suspend your account. This is generally when someone “Reports” your profile.
  3. Fake Profile: If you are using a name of a celebrity or any other person’s name rather than your own original name, they will suspend your account.
  4. Threatening Someone: Never ever use a Facebook profile for threatening anyone doesn’t matter if it’s just for fun. Facebook takes this thing very seriously and they will immediately ban you.
  5. Hate Speech/Content: Some people use their Facebook account to make a group/page against any particular person or thing. Never do such kind of things and neither post anything anywhere on Facebook which is against any particular person.(recent example is ‘Should obama be killed’ poll)
  6. Using profile for Spamming: Not only Facebook but the whole internet hates this. Never ever use your Facebook profile to promote your product or website. However you can create a new page for promotion.
  7. Too many friend requests: If you just love to add random people and keep adding other Facebook users then this could also be a reason for account suspension. Add less than 20 people per day.
  8. Malware/Virus: If your profile is sending virus/infection by any means to other Facebook users or their own servers that they will suspend your account immediately.
  9. Too many groups: Never join more than 200 groups a day. If you exceed this limit, they will suspend your account.
  10. More than one profile: If you are using more than one profile from the same name and information then one or both of your account will get suspended.
  11. Too many messages: If you post too many message on your friend’s wall or inbox, it will be considered as spamming.
  12. Same message, different content: If you want to post same message again and again then always make some changes in it else it will be considered as a spam.

So any one or more than one points could be answer to your question “Why Facebook disabled my account”. The points mentioned above are against their terms and conditions so try not to violate it.

Why always use a URL shortener before posting a link on Facebook

It is always recommended to use a shortened URL before posting any link to Facebook either on your homepage or in any page. It is because of the ultimate anti spamming system of Facebook which is operated manually.

Suppose if you post a link to Facebook page and few people report it as a spam or mark it as “used for website promoting” then that link will be immediately banned from Facebook. Then neither you nor anybody else on Facebook can ever use that link. That means they will ban that link for lifetime and then you have to use different URL shortening services to post it again on Facebook.

So it’s better to use a URL shortening service now rather than after get banned from Facebook. You can use some of the most popular URL shortening websites like tinyurl or bit.ly and if possible don’t spam Facebook. 😛

Most popular Facebook application in September ’09

Well what actually makes Facebook world’s best social networking website is not just it’s privacy features but also some of the most interesting applications in it. Like the application we are gonna talk about in this post but it’s not a single application, rather it’s a couple of applications.

The applications which were most popular in the month of september are “Friend of the Day” and “Enemy of the Day”. Although “Fans Check” and “Tag your Friends” like applications were used a lot but people found that uninteresting.

In “Friend of the Day” application, the application selects random six friends from your profile and you can choose anyone from them and publish it on your walls well as on your friend’s homepage. Everything is same in another application “Enemy of the Day” except the name. You can select your “Enemy of the Day” from randomly selected people from your profile.

Just check out these wapplications and tell us what you think about them. 🙂

How to get back your deleted message in Facebook

In Facebook, now you can also recover your deleted messages or a group of messages from your inbox which can be your recieved or sent messages or simply updates from the different pages that you have joined. It’s not a trick or anything like it, rather it’s just a feature added by Facebook without any notification or update in their official blog.

To recover a deleted message, find the link of undo in a yellow box below the button of  “+ Compose”. Check out the screen Shot below.

This link will appear in your inbox whenever you delete one or more of messages that might be received or sent messages. You can also undo the deleted updates from the pages. This feature helps to clean inbox faster as you don’t have to confirm “are you sure want to delete this message” every time, but you still don’t have an option of recovering an old deleted message that you have deleted a long while ago. However to read an old message that is no more in your inbox, you can check your e-mails as Facebook always send you an e-mail notification in your mailbox whenever you recieves a new message.
