[How to] Use Yahoo emoticons on Facebook

I have always felt jealous by the Yahoo emoticon’s look and feel and the way there are more options there. Have you ever tried to update your Facebook status or send an emoticon to someone on their wall? It appears as a simple text smiley. Well now you can get your favorite emoticons on Facebook. You just need to install this Greasemonkey script and see the magic happen. 😉

How to install?

  • You should have Greasemonkey script installed on your Mozilla Firefox. If not then install it from here.
  • Go here.
  • Install the script.
  • Refresh your browser.

Only bad thing about it is that the smileys are shown on you Facebook not on somebody else’s. 🙁 But well better than not showing any thing at all.

Now try updating your status or sending anybody any smiley, you will see the new bigger and better smileys. 🙂 In the image above I am using an emoticon that is available with only Yahoo.

5 reasons RockMelt makes Facebook rock!

If you are into Social media and all and love to have Facebook ,twitter and everything going side by side then I am sure you will love it. As soon as I have downloaded  Rockmelt, I am getting more and more addicted to it. Here are some reasons why you should switch to Rockmelt now if you are a Facebook addict.

  1. Earlier when I used to play games on Facebook I had to switch to another tab to see my updates and everything. Now with Rockmelt I can play games and look at the updates both on the same browser.
  2. I can update my status, chat with Facebook friends and look at the news feed all at one place while being on twitter.
  3. I can update my twitter status and look at the timeline or tweets at one place while being on Facebook in the same browser.
  4. I can find friends or any information through the  Google search provided on the upper right hand side of the page.
  5. Lastly I can have my favorite friends list. This basically gives me freedom to categorize my friends with whom I always want to chat or talk.

In the image above you can see that I am playing game as well as looking at the twitter timeline. I can also look at my Facebook updates etc. If somebody has updated a set of photographs, you can view the news feed on the same browser while surfing something else. The only thing here  is that you can download Rockmelt through invites only. If I am using Rockmelt then I can send you invite and you can join it too. 🙂

Share interesting status updates on Facebook: Status Shuffle

When it comes to Facebook people think of status updates. It’s like how cool or intelligent your Facebook status was, who all commented on it. Actually, most of the conversations get started over an update. Moreover people who are into networking or stuff they keep updating their status messages on Facebook or twitter. The problem here is you are not always bubbling with ideas and everything so for that reason I am talking about this application.

Status Shuffle is an application that helps you think. 🙂  You can change your Facebook status every minute every second and that too with a new idea. You can choose from a lot of categories like Fun, Love, Religious etc. You just need to choose any topic and go ahead. Once the topic is selected the status message is displayed. If you like it use it or just shuffle it to get a new status update. 🙂

I like this application a lot because it gives you way more options and choices. Either just Google for nice quotes, search everywhere then copy paste or just start using this application and keep having cool, witty status messages anytime you want. 😉

How to change your Facebook layout

Need a break from boring blue Facebook layout? You can add certain images and colors to it and change it into a new one. There are many ways of doing so. I will tell you one of them.

Cool Facebook Layout:

  • You need to install Stylish add-on for your Mozilla Firefox from here.
  • Restart Firefox to see the changes.
  • Once you have downloaded the Stylish Add-on and refreshed, you can go to the site and install any skin you wish to.
  • You can uninstall this add-on by choosing uninstall from tools->add on-stylish.
  • You can also disable this add-on by clicking once on the Stylish icon that appears on the right hand side bottom of                                                    your screen.

I tried two layouts for my Facebook page. One was Huku embrace layout and the other was Golf sport layout. These and more can be installed by you. I am putting a screenshot of my homepage after applying these layouts.

Gender Discrimination on Facebook! [Funny]

We all love Facebook. One of the most intuitive features of Facebook is the ‘Like’ button. This gives us the power to show our friends that we liked or support something they shared on Facebook. I came across a funny caricature about how life is often imitated online. Atleast when it comes paying people attention based on their gender. At least according to this sketch even a Nobel prize win for a guy won’t be as popular as a girl sharing a video of a cute ‘puppy’.

I am not sure how many women will agree with me wholly about the joke in the sketch but it does have a bit of truth in it doesn’t it? Do drop in your comments and views.

How to celebrate Halloween on Facebook

As it is Halloween tomorrow, I was just wondering how to give my Facebook profile a Halloween look. I searched for the applications and found this one. A big brand Converse has come up with an idea where you can edit your face and mis it with another creature’s body and legs. 🙂

As you can see in the image above you can have loads of fun with it. There is a variety of faces, body and legs to choose from. You can upload your personal image or any random image provided by it. 🙂

How to create?

  • Go to the application page.
  • Click on create.
  • Select the face, body and legs.
  • Save.

You can view the gallery now. You will find a lot of images that you can like or share.

Use unfriend finder to keep a check on Facebook friends

I feel now that everything can be done with Greasemonkey scripts. I have always thought how nice it would be if I could just know who all removed me from their friend list or if any of my friends deleted his/her Facebook profile. All this and more can now be done by using this Greasemonkey Script.

How to install this Script?

  • Go here.
  • Click on Install.
  • Refresh browser.

What does the Script do?

  • This script tells you which friend has deleted you from his/her friend list.
  • It tells you which friend has hidden or deleted his Facebook profile.
  • You can check out all the pending or awaiting friend requests and delete them here.

In my last post JustB asked me if there was any way to delete the awaiting/pending friend requests on one page itself. That is instead of going on each and everyone’s profile page we could delete all at once at one place itself. By using this Script that is possible. It shows all the pending friend requests which you can delete.

How to use it ?

After installing you will see a new button which appears on the upper right hand side of the Facebook profile. If any friend has removed you from his/her account you will see the notification under Unfriends.

How to have a cool status update on Facebook

There are status messages loved by all and there are Facebook status messages that are just not noticed. I have always wondered how people get all the smileys and everything on their Facebook status updates. I tweaked a bit and I found out new ways to do that. So well here are some of the tips you can use.

1) You can use ASCII characters or symbols for updating your status. You just need to copy any of these and paste on the status. 🙂 So easy right. You just need to remember this post or rather bookmark it. 😉

How to get free Facebook credits?

Are you on Facebook? Do you play games like Farmville, Sorority Life or ItGirl ? If answer to any one of these is yes then you will be knowing about the Facebook credits. All the good items in the games are either purchased by the real money or the Facebook credits.

What is Facebook Credit?

Facebook Credits are a virtual currency you can use to buy virtual goods in many games and applications. They are used to buy things for games.

How to get Facebook credits?

There are many ways to get the credits. Some of them include buying different items from the real money. You can also exchange gift cards if you wish to. If you buy a certain thing Facebook will grant you some credits. But that includes investing real money and as far as I am concerned I would not put my real money on virtual games.

How to get free Facebook Credits?

  • Go to Account->Credit Balance.
  • Click on it.
  • On Credit Balance click on ‘Buy more’.
  • Under Select a payment mode, Select ‘earn for free shopping’.
  • Once selected a list will appear showing from where you can earn the credits.
  • Out of these if you want free credits, you can complete Crowd Flower tasks or complete the surveys of Opinion Surveys.
  • These tasks take 30 minutes about to be finished.
  • Once completed the tasks click on ‘I completed this’.
  • Automatically your credit will get updated.

Well here is the solution. Now you can create any type of ASCII art no matter if it’s an image or a text. You can save it in your notes or use it. Below are some of the links to such sites that create ASCII art for you. You just have to enter the image URL or the text and get the ASCII art.

  • Facebook ASCII Art Generator: Here you can get an ASCII image or ASCII text as you wish. You just have to type the original text and get the ASCII art. The art produced is 75 characters in length.
