The other day Rajeel posted a tutorial, about how you could move your previously installed apps from phone memory to your SD card. Although this is dead simple, there is a little more you can do, by which your apps get directly installed to your SD Card; thus speeding up the process a bit. This is a little advanced tutorial, but easy.

The apps that you download in your android phone, are stored in the phone memory. Since most mobiles have low phone memory, it can store fewer apps. If you have big sized apps, then it could fill up the memory and consequently slows down your phone.
Whenever you install an app, move it to your SD card from your phone memory. I have added some screenshots for it, so that you can easily understand it.
Note : This can be done in android devices with a version 2.2 (froyo) or above
Steps to move Apps from Phone Memory to SD Card
- Go to Home -> Settings
- Select the tab applications
- Select ‘manage applications‘ from the menu.
- It will show all the applications that you have downloaded.
- Now from the list given, select the app that you want to move. As an example, I am moving the compass to my SD Card.
- See, I have selected the compass from the list.
- Now the ‘manage‘ page of that app will appear. You could see a button called ‘move to SD‘ on the upper right of the screen (see in image).
- Select that and your app will be transferred into your SD card. So Here, The compass had moved to my SD card.
- Confirmation: We have to confirm that it was done successfully. To check this, make sure that the ‘Move to SD card‘ is now shown as ‘Move to phone’ and the app that you have moved (Compass) is shown under the ‘On SD card’ tab.
This confirms that it is done. Since the SD Card have much bigger memory than Phone memory, you can add a lot more apps to it. 🙂
Doing this can significantly cut your phone memory usage and can speed up your device. I strongly recommend you to move your apps to your SD Card.

Taking screenshots is easy in Windows Mobile and iPhone, but it is complicated when comes to Android. Since Android is being one of the most used mobile platforms but while taking screenshots, it shows the errors. There are several apps to do this, but all apps need your phone to be rooted.
As rooting destroys the manufactures warranty of your phone and many such other issues, lots of people like me, do not root their phone.
Here we will guide to take a screenshot in any android phones without rooting.
Using Android SDK
- Connect your phone to your PC
- You must have the Android SDK installed in your computer. If not, you have to install it from here (make sure that your Java developer kit is updated). You can read a complete tutorial on how to install it, from their official page .
- Open the folder where you have the Android SDK installed and navigate to -> Tools

- Now open the file named ddms in it
- Now in the device list provided, select your device and go to Device -> Screen Capture. Alternatively, you can do this by tapping Ctrl + S together.
That’s it ! You got the screenshot ! You can save it, rotate it, copy it. Once you have installed the Android SDK manager, you just want to follow the steps 4 & 5. Since you can directly get it into the computer, it i’s really easy to share or post on blogs tutorials etc.
Hope this tutorial had helped you.

Reliance and Facebook announced the launch of a new Facebook mobile app exclusively available for Reliance subscribers in India for a 3 month period. Finally! I always thought why doesn’t Reliance do something like this.
This new app will be available for all Java powered mobile phones. You do not need a smart phone for such purpose. The new Facebook app for Java-powered feature phones will be made available for most of the popular handset models in India. Reliance customers who are also Facebook users can now stay connected on their mobile phones without having to upgrade to a smart phone.
Reliance will be the first and only operator in India to offer this app. Reliance is providing a special promotional offer where all users can enjoy this app free for three months without incurring any data charges.1. This app provides a ‘smartphone like’ experience on feature phones by showing features like viewing photos, synchronizing your local phone contacts with your Facebook friends and Facebook login to third-party services within the app, such as news, sports, games, and weather.
The app will be available for Reliance Communications customers to download without any extra data charges from R World on their Reliance phones by typing – http://wap.rworld.co.in. Ovi Mail is a mail service used by Nokia users. Today, most Ovi Mail users received an email that Nokia is partnering with Yahoo to enhance Ovi Mail. The email sent out shows Nokia is making some interesting partners. Microsoft has recently paid them $1 Billion to stay away from Android. The partnership was announced last year in July 2010, but actual transition of Ovi Mail accounts to Yahoo will start this week.
Below is an excerpt form the email sent out to Ovi Mail users.
Once the transition starts, you will immediately begin receiving new
emails into your updated Ovi Mail account, but you may not see your
old emails for several days until the transition has finished. Don’t
worry because your emails are safe and are being moved to Yahoo!. You
will see them in your inbox again once the transfer is complete.
The thing that might concern Ovi Mail account users is that, users might not be able to see their old emails for several days. The emails will be accessible to Ovi Mail users once the transition is done. This email is a little vague. There is not timeframe that defines several days. Several days could mean 3-4 days or even 20 days.
Nokia has made some strange partnerships. It has partnered with Microsoft, which seems to be a smart move as they will be receiving 1$ Billion from Microsoft. Yahoo as a partner is quite strange. In my opinion Yahoo is a bit of a sinking ship.
Thanks to Akshay for the tip.
What are your views on this Nokia and Yahoo partnership? Do you think Ovi Mail experience will actually be enhanced?
The world and even you know that Nokia is now with Microsoft, strange but true! What comes more amazingly is the unique deal Microsoft has signed with Nokia to keep competitors away. It may give the Mobile phone market an entire re-direction!
Now coming over to the deal gossip, what’s important here is that Microsoft just paid over US$ 1 billion to Nokia Corporation to bid a deal with them.
The company says it is just a part of the promotion and development fee it is paying to the latter. However it can be also considered as a cold cash paid to avoid Google’s bulge in the deal.
What does Nokia do in return?
What is Nokia going to do in return is something interesting, a fee for each copy of the Mobile OS it uses on its devices. Interesting, isn’t?
Now what everyone is waiting for the kind of devices Nokia brings out in the market and whether it will be a true competitor to Google’s Android! Because after a billion dollars I am sure Nokia will be not tempted to go with Android for any of their smart phones.
Why’s no one talking about ‘BADA’?
Yes, I did notice that Samsung Wave 533 runs a BADA operating system and not the much hyped Android. Since I had personally no idea about this new OS – “BADA”, I finally knocked Google and started looking for the differences with Android.
I am presenting a small compilation of thoughts after going through numerous articles and comments on BADA as well as Android.
Display & Interface
Bada is surely the winner over Android here with its TouchWiz UI. The interface is really very smooth and lets you move your widgets and icons easily between the 3 desktop screens, unlike Android which makes it slightly nudging experience.

Multimedia
Multimedia seems so cool with BADA as both its Audio and Video players are user-friendly and equipped with lots of functions while on the other hand Android Audio players is not really a good one to boast about. If we talk about the Wave 533 which has a Super AMOLED display, the video quality is just awesome!

Apps Marketplace
This is where BADA seems to lose against Android which already has the largest number of apps for its devices. However with Developers across the World gaining interest towards BADA App development, it is not far that BADA will be a big competitor to Android in the near future. Moreover unlike Google, Samsung takes pretty good care to keep junk applications out of its marketplace.

Conclusion
One possible reason no one is talking about BADA is because of the big image of Google attached to Android. While Samsung is not basically a Development company, Google is loved by billions of users around the globe. However BADA has basically taken the positive things from Android, iOS as well as HTC Sense, so let’s see how BADA evolves!
Do post your comments and if you are not a geek, then at least post some appreciation 😛
