The Social Network movie got 3 Oscars !

The Oscars 2011 winners have been announced ! The movie Social Network got 3 Oscars. Ah, a bit bad. I was expecting more.

The movie which was nominated for 8 Oscars has finally bagged 3 out of 8 awards. Well, if it would have got at least half of what was nominated, I would have been happier.

‘Most stupid criminal ever’ on Facebook

Well, this is the story of a man who stole the laptop with money and jacket and posted it on the victim’s Facebook page . Phew, how stupid as well as just see the guts of that thief.

Last December, Rodney Knight Jr, 19, broke into the house of Washington Post journalist Marc Fisher and lifted “a bunch of stuff”, including cash, a winter coat and a laptop computer belonging to the hack’s 15-year-old son.

Later he took his snap and posted it on the child’s Facebook page. 🙂 While investigating the crime, DC police officer Kyle Roe admitted:

I’ve seen a lot, but this is the most stupid criminal I’ve ever seen.

Facebook For BlackBerry v2.0 Images Leaked!

Do you own a Blackberry and wish to have Facebook chat integration? Well, the thing is that there is news that we are getting Facebook for BlackBerry v2.0 application.

Facebook 2.0 is said to have an official target release date of May 2011, with an even earlier Beta 2 release projected for March 2011. N4BB has some screen shots of this thing. Facebook for BlackBerry v2.0 will include Facebook Chat integration, which was always awaited.

American Idol Now Lets Fans Vote Through Facebook

Are you a fan of American Idol and Facebook ? Well, now you can vote for your favorite idols through Facebook.

American Idol is for the first time giving fans a chance to vote online using their Facebook accounts. The new voting method will be available to fans when the new season hits the TV on 1 March.

The Fans are required to log onto their Facebook account to access the American Idol voting page. A total of 50 online votes can be cast per user.

Bing now displays Results according to Facebook Likes

The Microsoft Bing search engine will soon integrate ‘Facebook Likes‘ more prominently into its search results. Wow.

Bing added Facebook Instant Personalization and began showing Liked results at the bottom of result pages in October. Well, now when you search for something, your friend’s name will appear below the search result.

According to the Bing blog, they will be showing results with Facebook user’s name etc. They said,

You may not see Liked Results on every query, but when it does trigger it’s often a delightful experience. We are hoping that it will make searching on Bing more effortless and enjoyable. We are continuing to work with Facebook to make search more social and relevant.

Facebook hires Google’s Head of Sales

Facebook has recruited Google’s head of Latin America’s sale person. Wow, Facebook is surely getting the best brains for themselves.

Alexandre Hohagen has been asked to become vice president for sales in the region. Hohagen was behind Google’s Latin American presence over the past six years, and has served as a general manager in Brazil before becoming the head of the search engine’s entire operation in Latin America.

Breakup Notifier: The stalking Application is Shutdown by Facebook

Yesterday we talked about how people can stalk more using this application called Breakup notifier. Well, today Facebook blocked it !

According to TechCrunch, the developer of stalking application got an email from Facebook saying,

To ensure positive user experiences on Platform, we run routine automated screens that take user feedback, machine learning and various algorithms into account and remove spammy applications. For example, if an application is making an inordinate number of stream.publish calls and receiving a large number of user reports, it may be removed by our automated systems to protect the user experience and the Platform ecosystem.

Breakup Notifier creator Dan Loewenherz, has contacted Facebook saying he is ready to do anything but he wants to keep running this application. If you go to the Breakup Notifier website now, you will see a message saying

Facebook has blocked Breakup Notifier. We’re trying to bring it back online. Please contact Facebook on Twitter to express your displeasure!

Well, I guess Facebook took a right step here! It is good that the app got blocked by Facebook ! 🙂 But, well lets see what happens. Share your views here.

Chinese Facebook- Renren about to win the IPO race

Have you heard about the Facebook’s Chinese version? 😛 It is called renren which means everyone. 😀 Renren is a social networking website in China.

Renren is a six-year-old company that is called as “the Facebook of China”. Well the news is it may be the first social networking site to go all public. It is estimated to have 22m active users, renren is the largest site of its kind in China.

Facebook may go public in may 2010, which is estimated to be $600 million. Along with this there are other websites also that are planning to go public including Twitter and YouTube.

My friend has this feature and using it. I personally feel very happy when Facebook rolls out some feature for usage in India. Generally all the features are delayed here. I wonder what is the reason.

Young Egyptian names his daughter ‘Facebook’

We all know what was the role of Facebook in the Egypt Revolution. 🙂 People thanked Facebook, Ghonim even wants to meet Mark Zuckerberg personally to thank him.

Now, a young man has reportedly named his first born daughter “Facebook” , Wow. 🙂  Here is that news :
